| Weaving Process: Paint one painting vertically with lots of detail. Bring it with to the workshop. Subject matter can be floral, landscape or seascape, portraits don’t work very well. Keep it simple. We will then paint another very loose painting horizontally on the same size paper in the workshop. The painting can be what ever size you choose. I used Arches cold press 140# paper 12X16” for both of my paintings. When the two paintings are complete we will cut the detailed painting vertically in strips. The strips can vary in shape and widths. These strips are attached with artist’s tape to a foam core board with leaving a little space between each strip. The second painting will be cut horizontally and the pattern can be wavy and irregular. The weaving begins and you may rearrange or remove strips, thereby tightening or loosening the image. Once a final image is established I attach it to a sheet of mat board. The size of your painting will determine the size of your mat board. I used 20” X 26” colored mat board. You may have to cut pieces or touch up with paint when you have it put together. Supply List: Usual supplies, paper, paints, brushes, containers. 1 Completed Watercolor Painting (Your choice of size), Foam core board (Larger than your painting as you will tape your weave to it.), scissors (decent), 1” artist tape, glue (Lineco Neutral PH Adhesive in small squeeze bottle) if you can’t find it you can use Elmers Glue. Your choice and size of colored mat board (allow about 4” larger on all sides than your painting).
